SUMMER PROGRAM 2017!

Our 2017 Summer Program is nearly upon us and we are seeking your financial help!  Please help us to continue providing these much needed programs for the local residents and families of the area.

If you would like to Donate HERE via PayPal then you would not only be helping Hekab Be to run its day to day operations but also you will be ensuring the kids of Akumal get the best possible experience out of the Hekab Be Summer Program.

Here is a Summer Program Wishlist of things we desperately need for the program and for the back to school pack that we give to each child at the end of the program in time for them to start the new school year!

"Meet Alí, one of our long-time young friends. Alí and his sister Megan have been coming to Hekab Be after school for more than 4 years and love the activities, learning, and opportunity to build friendships that the program provides them. Please help us make sure that the library programs continue into the future for children like Alí, his sister, and his friends in the pueblo of Akumal."

This year three generous library supporters have offered Hekab Be a challenge to match $2500.00 USD in donations!  

This means that for every dollar donated to Hekab Be between December 15 and December 31, 2016 we will be able to match it dollar-for-dollar, to raise up to $5000.00!  Please help us to succeed in meeting this challenge offer, so we can ring in a prosperous New Year.

We realize the holiday season is a time when many organizations are asking you to give, but we hope that you will consider Hekab Be.  Every dollar you donate will count double to support our free programs for children and families in Akumal!

We have concluded our summer program fundraiser, coming in just a little above $5000 and want to say MANY thanks to everyone who helped make this happen-- truly, none of it would be possible without you!

Hekab Be 2016 Summer Course Fundraiser

Akumal Adults Spring Breakers Do it Again!!

A HUGE shout out to the Loco Gringo AASB group, and especially George Connell and Ed & Sandy Knight, for once again bringing together a great group of people to help raise much needed funds for HB!!

All told, they raised over $2000 US to support vital library programs....even after having to switch things up due to a rain storm that flooded the auction tables with silent bid sheets on them. They brought the auction inside under the palapa at Lol-Ha and do a live auction. People were buying soaking wet t-shirts ("pre-washed") for $30! 

And earlier in the day, these wonderful folks helped lead Los Piratas Treasure for the kiddos at the library. Both the auction and the pirate hunt have become annual events. Gosh, you guys are spoiling us, and we're loving every minute of it!! 

 

Silent Auction May 4th at Lol-Ha

Make plans to attend the 7th Annual Silent Auction to benefit the programs of Hekab Be Biblioteca!!! See you at Lolha Restaurant and Snack Bar on Wednesday, May 4th from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.!!! Special guests the Salty Snowbirds will provide musical entertainment!!!

 

Akumal, You Gotta Love It group does it again!

A huge shout out to Segio Valenzuela and others from the "Akumal, you gotta love it!" facebook group who helped raise $768 for Hekab Be! We are so blessed to have supporters that believe in all that HB does, so much so, that they do a fundraiser on their own to help support our programs!!

You are all awesome! Thank you so much for helping Hekab Be!

The library is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, open 9-1 on Saturday and closed Sunday.

Holiday Hours

From December 21st-January 6th, the library will be open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., closed on Sunday. 

The library will be closed December 25th and January 1st.

We will continue these efforts to keep the Library running because of its value to the people of Akumal, most especially the children.

The Hekab Be Library is pleased to announce the launch of our 2015 Annual Fall Raffle Fundraiser! Our goal is to sell 350 raffle tickets. The raffle will run from September 15 –  October 1, 2015.

If you're walking by and wondering what's going on at HB, we've been hard at work getting things spruced up for the new school year! Thanks to the artistic talents of Jake, and the organizational touch of our director, Emilia, along with our staff, Lety & Angel, plus some help from volunteers Maria & Bear Lee, things are looking pretty spiffy!
