After nearly 8 years of working at the library, our wonderful friend & librarian, Carlos, has decided it's time to move on to a new venture in life. Asked how he felt on his last day, Carlos said "It's the saddest day of my life, but I know that life takes us on journeys we don't always understand at the time." Philosophical as always in his view of the world, it was an emotional goodbye celebration for Carlos and all the children (some were sobbing). We are sad to see Carlos go, but wish him the best of luck in whatever he does next.
An emotional goodbye for many children who've come to rely on Carlos all these years, they've grown up with him!

Gabina (and her baby Lupita) on the left and Lucia on the right are two new library helpers we are very happy to have on board. They are both in training and learning English, although Gabi has experience working in a library in her hometown in Yucatan state. Look for their faces when you visit, and of course, Maggie & Reyna are still helping to keep things running smoothly.
Working at the carwash...
The past two weekends the library has put on small fundraiser functions-- a carwash and a clothing bazaar-- which helped us raise almost a whole month of operating expenses.
The kids had great fun washing cars, selling juice, and getting wet!
Tremendous thanks to all who brought down many many many suitcases full of clothes & other items for the bazaar, it was one of our best & most eagerly attended yet...by 8:30 a.m. there was a line of people waiting to get in!
